All Department of Communication Scholarships Application

Apply using this application to be considered for all Department of Communication scholarships. This one application provides the applicant multiple scholarship considerations if they are eligible based on the eligibility and criteria of each scholarship below. You can view their eligibility by looking at each opportunity’s description in AcademicWorks. The following scholarships provide financial assistance to Brockport students who are in the Department of Communication at SUNY Brockport:
*Communications Awards
*Peter & Marguerite Kane Endowed Scholarship in Communication
*Anthony Mascioli Communications Scholarship – The scholarship selection committee rotates between the Department of Journalism, Public Relations & Broadcasting (spring 2022 for 2022-2023) and the Department of Communication (spring 2023 for 2023-2024).
*Billy Reed Prize in Public Speaking
*Harry B. Boutet Scholarship – The scholarship selection committee rotates between the Department of English (spring 2022 for 2022-2023) and the Department of Communication (spring 2023 for 2023-2024).

Eligible majors will be auto-matched for the Gregory A. Tortorello Scholarship.

Communication majors should also consider applying separately for the Jacques and Dawn Lipson Award in Visual, Performing or Creative Arts Opportunity. This Award is open to dance majors and is The Lipson Award is a separate “apply-to” opportunity in AcademicWorks.

  3. In 250 to 500 words, how you hope to eventually hold a career in the field of writing, please outline your interest in a specific field (play writing, movie screenwriting, novels, etc.).
  4. In 250 to 500 words, state how you demonstrate a concern for grammar as it relates to all forms of communication, demonstrate leadership in your academic program and on-campus, and demonstrate a strong and appropriate moral and ethical character as exhibited by behavior in and out of the classroom.
