Campus Wide Student Leadership Scholarships & Awards Application

Apply using this application to be considered for multiple campus-wide student leadership awards and scholarships. These scholarships recognize SUNY Brockport’s top student leaders who are involved in activities on and/or off campus, who demonstrate leadership through their service and engagement regardless of their academic program, who demonstrate academic excellence (no less than a 3.0GPA), and who are rising juniors, rising seniors, or who will graduate in May/August. By applying through this application, eligible students will be considered for the following leadership scholarships and awards:

  • Josh Silber ’93 Excellence in Leadership Award
  • Donald and Gloria Huot Excellence in Leadership Award
  • Sharon D. Belle-Render Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
  • Elaine Leshnower Scholarship in Social Equality
  • John R. Halstead Family Leadership in Higher Education Award
  • Marion D. Schrank Student Leadership Award – pinnacle award for co-curricular leadership at SUNY Brockport.

  2. Leshnower Scholarship: In approximately 500 words, how have you demonstrated a commitment to social equality, tolerance, diversity, and inclusiveness through your involvement and leadership on-and, or off-campus?
  3. Halstead Family Leadership Award: Are you considering a future career in higher education as a student affairs professional? In other words, are you seeking a future career with offices on a college campus that are dedicated to supporting the academic and personal development of students? (e.g. academic advisement, residential life, career services, counseling, civic engagement, student union, campus recreation, etc.)
  4. In approximately 1,000 words, how have your experiences shaped your growth as a leader and allowed you to impact your community? In what ways have you demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity and the University's Better Community Statement?
  5. Please ask a PROFESSIONAL reference who can attest to your leadership skills and abilities, commitment to service, and your on/off campus involvement. This reference must be different from the reference provided in the General Application. Please provide the full name and email address for this person and the system will make contact on your behalf. Please make sure to ask for their permission first and to follow up with your reference after inserting their name into the system. The recommendation is due at same time as your application.
