Billy Reed Prize in Public Speaking

The Department of Communication established the Billy Reed Prize in Public Speaking at SUNY Brockport to honor the memory of Bill Reed, a long-time member of the department’s faculty.

Mr. Reed, who passed away in 2009, served as a member of Brockport’s Faculty Senate, where he was named a representative for the Humanities on the General Education Program Coordinating Committee, beginning in 1979.

This award recognizes a first- or second-year student who is a declared communication major and who demonstrates excellence in public speaking. The recipient must have completed CMC 201 Public Speaking at Brockport and must have a GPA of at least 2.5.
