Clark V. Whited/JP Morgan Chase Scholarship

Dr. Clark V. Whited, men’s baseball coach and chair of men’s physical education, compiled a record of 128 wins over his 22 years at the helm of SUNY Brockport’s baseball team. He also coached gymnastics, served as assistant football and later assistant soccer coach, and as athletic trainer. His support for The College at Brockport continued after he retired in 1983.

In the early 1970s, the former Chase Lincoln First Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) sponsored a basketball tournament in the Rochester region. In the mid-1980s, the bank began donating Brockport’s share of the proceeds to a scholarship for an outstanding Brockport student majoring in Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education to the College. Dr. Whited supplemented the proceeds, and he and Chase both contributed to the scholarship endowment.

That award became the Clark V. Whited/JP Morgan Chase Scholarship that recognizes a student in the Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education, who has at least two semesters remaining in the program, demonstrates academic excellence as evidenced by a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and establishes financial need.
