CPT Robert A. Bager Memorial Scholarship

The family and friends of CPT Robert A. Bager ’02, a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) member who earned a Bachelor of Science in History, established a scholarship to honor his memory. CPT Bager served in the US Army’s 1st Armored Division and 1st Cavalry Regiment based in Buedingen, Germany, and he was a veteran of the Iraq War. In 2005, he died from injuries sustained in a training accident in Germany.

The scholarship in his name supports contracted cadets in the ROTC program at SUNY Brockport who intend to achieve commission in the United States Army.

CPT Bager, an armor platoon leader in Iraq from September 2003 through July 2004, received the following awards for his service: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He was posthumously promoted to CPT.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in their major. Qualified applicants will demonstrate a need for financial assistance and have the recommendation of the Department of Military Science.
