Culver Family Scholarship
Daniel E. Colacino ’73 established the Culver Fa,ily Scholarship at SUNY Brockport to honor his mother and his aunt by recognizing an outstanding student in the Department of Public Health and Health Education at the college.
Mr. Colacino’s mother, Dorothy Culver Colacino, was a single parent who helped pay for his education. Hi aunt, Jane Culver, who was a student in the Health Sciences Department at Brockport convinced him that the health care profession offered a promising future.
He took his aunt’s advice, and after graduating, enjoyed a rewarding career in the health insurance industry during the next 45 years of his life. Mr. Colacino believes he owes his success to these outstanding women.
Applicants for the Culver Family Scholarship must be accepted as a mjor in the Department of Public Health and Health Education at either the undergraduate or graduate level. They must demonstrate academic excellence as determined by the Department of Public Health and Health Education selection committee, and they must demonstrate the potential for excellence in a health-science-related career as judged by the department’s selection committee.
