Dr. Harold W. Nash and Lorraine Porter Nash Scholarship

Members of the Class of 1954, Dr. Harold W. Nash and Lorraine Porter Nash established their scholarship at SUNY Brockport to recognize an outstanding student in the Teacher Education Program.

Dr. Nash and Mrs. Porter Nash taught in various public schools, colleges and universities, noting that they found their undergraduate education at Brockport served them extremely well in preparing them to teach. Their hope is to help students beginning their careers in education, encouraging more students to enter a career in education.

To qualify for the Dr. Harold W. Nash and Lorraine Porter Nash Scholarship, applicants must be undergraduate students in a childhood education, physical education, or health provisional teacher certification program. They must demonstrate academic excellence as judged by the selection committee, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and be completing the third phase of four in the childhood certification program in the fall semester with the intention to student teach during the spring semester of the same academic year. Preference will go to a student who comes from a family where teaching is or has been part of the family history.
