When Dr. Vishal Anand passed away suddenly in late 2015, a group of his former SUNY Brockport students established a scholarship in his memory to recognize an outstanding student in the Department of Computing Sciences who participated in professional research, writing, or presentations.

Dr. Anand was an associate professor of computing sciences at Brockport, where he enjoyed a reputation as an exemplary teacher and scholar. He generously devoted time to encouraging student research and mentoring students who went on to achieve success in their careers. A native of Chennai, India, Dr. Anand began his career at Brockport in 2003.

This scholarship provides recognition and support to an exceptional student in the memory of a devoted teacher and a remarkable colleague.

To qualify, students must be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior academic years and be majoring in computing sciences. They should have a minimum GPA of 3.5. They also must demonstrate academic excellence through participation in research, contributions to scholarly papers, or presentations at conferences.
