Evelyn Source Pengelly Scholarship

Evelyn Source Pengelly Scholarship

Scott Turner and Mary Worboys-Turner established the Evelyn Source Pengelly Scholarship to support a student in the School of Business and Management at SUNY Brockport. Their award recognizes a student who is both accomplished academically and actively engaged in the community, showing an aptitude for future leadership-level responsibilities.

This scholarship is named in memory of Ms. Worboys-Turner’s friend, who was a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman with a passion for education.

Mrs. Pengelly had more than 50 years’ experience in farm marketing and served as secretary for the Associated Florists of Greater Rochester. She also was a master quilter, instructor, and appraiser.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must be enrolled full time in one of the programs in the School of Business and Management, be at least a rising junior with successful completion of 60 credits, and an overall GPA of at least 3.6. Preference will go to students who are the first member of their nuclear family to attend college. Students must demonstrate an ongoing pattern of entrepreneurial interest, including examples of appropriate leadership.

The recipient must submit a brief report to the donors at the end of the academic year, reflecting on how the award facilitated building a stronger understanding of the role of business in improving the quality of community life. This scholarship may be renewed once if the recipient maintains academic eligibility.
