Family of Michael Cavalcanti Scholarship
Michael Cavalcanti, a member of the Class of 1964, and his brothers William and Richard, established this scholarship to recognize an incoming freshman student from the Rochester area who wishes to pursue a college degree from one of the programs offered by the School of Business and Management at SUNY Brockport.
During his time at Brockport, Mr. Cavalcanti was an accomplished swimmer. After graduation, he was an entrepreneur with a business acumen and generosity that touched hundreds of lives. He was one of the founders of Perkins, among other restaurants, commercial, and residential real estate developments. He was a good listener, steadfast and focused.
In addition to his participation with the Class of 1964, Mr. Cavalcanti volunteered his time and expertise to the Spiritus Christi prison ministry. He passed away in 2017.
To be eligible for the Family of Michael Cavalcanti Scholarship, students must have completed at least one year of study at SUNY Brockport. They also must have declared their intent to major in one of the undergraduate programs of the School of Business and Management, exhibit academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate the potential for success in a business career as determined by the School of Business and Management scholarship selection committee.
