Herbert C. Fink Scholarship
Dr. Herbert C. Fink, professor emeritus, served on the faculty at SUNY Brockport for 42 years, from 1966 to 2008. Dr. Fink did his undergraduate work at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned his PhD from the University of Rochester.
His teaching and research specialty was social psychology. At Brockport, he served on the Faculty Senate for 20 years and was active with United University Professionals for nearly 30 years, primarily as a chapter officer.
During his tenure at Brockport, he saw the campus grow from when the Psychology Department was located in a World War II Quonset hut to the multiple academic, service, residence, and dining facilities in place now as the campus has spread to the west and the north.
Dr. Fink established his scholarship to recognize a conscientious, well-prepared psychology major who has best mastered course content.
Students eligible for the Herbert C. Fink Scholarship must have completed at least four courses in psychology at Brockport and have at least one semester of study remaining after the award is made. The Department of Psychology faculty selects the recipient for this award.
