History Department-Melinda Kleehamer Senior Seminar Prize

Melinda Kleehamer ’83 established the History Department/Melinda Kleehamer Senior Seminar Prize to honor the History Department faculty who were instrumental in her life.

After she graduated summa cum laude from The College at Brockport, Ms. Kleehamer attended the University of Chicago Law School, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1986 with her juris doctor degree. She accepted a position in trusts and estates at McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago and later worked for the law firm of Mayer Brown.

In the late 1990s, she transitioned to investment banking, accepting a position with Goldman Sachs, and in 2010, she was promoted to the position of managing director with the organization’s Wealth Advisory Services in its Chicago office.

The History Department/Melinda Kleehamer Senior Seminar Prize recognizes a senior student who is enrolled in a 400-level research-intensive course that serves as a capstone experience. The faculty of the Department of history select the recipient for this award.
