Jo Ann Armstrong Student Achievement Scholarship
The Rochester Rookies Adaptive Sports Program established the Jo Ann Armstrong Student Achievement Scholarship to recognize The College at Brockport for its contributions to adaptive sports programs.
The award is named for Ms. Armstrong to acknowledge her 40-plus years of community service benefitting young athletes and members of the disabled community of Rochester.
To qualify for the Jo Ann Armstrong Student Achievement Scholarship, students must be enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education at the College. Additionally, they must have made a demonstrated impact on the Rochester Rookies Adaptive Sports Program as a volunteer, intern, or other position, and exhibit a commitment to long-term support for and involvement with adaptive physical education programs and services.
Faculty or staff members in the Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies and Physical Education must nominate students through a statement of one or more pages. The statement should highlight the nominee’s impact on the Rochester Rookies Adaptive Sports Program as well as the reasons the student deserves this scholarship.
