Josh Silber '93 Excellence in Leadership Award
Josh Silber ’93 established this award to recognize an outstanding student at The College at Brockport who demonstrates the potential for leadership while attending the College.
During his time at Brockport, Mr. Silber was a member of the board of directors for the Brockport Student Government, a member of the Faculty-Student Association Board of Advisors, and a resident assistant. A communication major and political science minor, he continued his education, attending law school at the University of Miami.
Since graduation, Mr. Silber has excelled professionally. He is a partner with Abend & Silber, PLLC, in New York City, where his practice specializes in personal injury and medical malpractice. He has stayed active with Brockport, as well. Since 2012, he has been a member of the Brockport Foundation Board of Directors. Currently, he serves as secretary to the board.
Qualified applicants for the Josh Silber ’93 Excellence in Leadership Award should be students who will be juniors or seniors at Brockport at the time of the award. In addition to an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, students must present documentation listing their extracurricular campus activities as well as their community service involvement, including appointed or elected leadership positions that demonstrate their leadership. In addition, applicants should submit a 500-word essay addressing how their academic studies, leadership experiences, and extracurricular activities have contributed to their personal development and future plans.
