Lawrence C. and Stasia J. Arcarese Scholarship

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Arcarese established the Lawrence C. and Stasia J. Arcarese Scholarship at The College at Brockport to recognize a deserving undergraduate student.

A member of the Brockport Class of 1952, Mr. Arcarese taught for three years with the Rochester City School District. A mentor suggested that he consider teaching at the college level. After he earned his master’s degree from SUNY Plattsburg, he began teaching there in 1958. He also did advanced study at the SONY Video Institute. At Plattsburg, Mr. Arcarese taught in the campus school, developed and taught media courses for the Department of Education, and served as director of a media center. For his last 20 years at Plattsburg, he taught television production in the Department of Mass Communication. He retired in 1995 with the associate professor emeritus distinction. He passed away in 2018.

Mrs. Arcarese is a 1962 graduate of the Nursing Department at SUNY Plattsburg. She received her master’s degree in medical/surgical nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. After raising a family, she taught medical/surgical nursing in the Department of Nursing at Clinton Community College for 20 years, receiving the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. She retired in 2000 as a professor of nursing.

To qualify for the Lawrence C. and Stasia J. Arcarese Scholarship, applicants must be accepted into an academic program at the undergraduate level, have completed one year of study at Brockport, demonstrate academic excellence through a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need.
