Maggie Morgan Fox Award for Creativity in Poetry
Dr. P. Michael Fox, associate professor of biology, who spent more than 20 years in academic administration at SUNY Brockport, established the Maggie Morgan Fox Award for Creativity in Poetry to honor his mother’s interest in poetry.
Dr. Fox came to Brockport in the late 1970s as a faculty member in Biological Sciences. In 1993, he began service as assistant vice president for academic affairs. In that role, he oversaw a variety of programs, including the Honors College, Delta College, CELT (Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching), International Education and Study Abroad, Special Sessions, and the Student Learning Center.
In the 2016-17 academic year, Dr. Fox returned to teaching and currently serves as an associate professor of biology.
The Maggie Morgan Fox Award for Creativity in Poetry recognizes a Department of English student who has demonstrated outstanding creativity in the writing of poetry.
Qualified applicants can be either undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of English who demonstrate creativity in the writing of poetry as determined by the department. Applicants may submit one to three poems in any form or style (not to exceed five pages total). The department will evaluate the work anonymously.
