O'Connor Fund for Study Abroad

Richard F. O’Connor ’71 established the O’Connor Fund for Study Abroad at SUNY Brockport to recognize an outstanding student from the National University of Ireland at Maynooth, or another university in the Republic of Ireland.

Mr. O’Connor, an attorney in Rochester, NY, is a dedicated supporter of education, serving as president of the Board of Directors for the Alvin F. and Ruth K. Thiem Memorial Foundation for more than 25 years, The Alvin and Ruth Thiem Foundation supports Brockport Extraordinary Academic Scholarship program as well as scholarships for students of nursing at Brockport and at other area colleges.

Students who qualify for scholarships from the O’Connor Fund for Study Abroad must be matriculated at the National University of Ireland at Maynooth or another university in the Republic of Ireland. They also must demonstrate a genuine desire to immerse themselves in the SUNY Brockport experience to better understand their culture, an aspect of the American way of life, and their personal growth and development.

Scholarships
