Paul and Claudette Pelletier Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Michel Pelletier established the Paul and Claudette Pelletier Memorial Scholarship at The College at Brockport to honor his parents by recognizing an outstanding student in the Department of Biological Sciences.
A faculty member at the College since 2009, Dr. Pelletier and his brother Marc were the first in their family to attend college. Although Paul and Claudette Pelletier, parents of Michel and Marc, did not complete high school, the couple valued education and made sacrifices to ensure their sons could attend college to pursue both undergraduate and graduate studies.
Dr. Michel Pelletier earned his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. He went on to obtain his PhD from the same institution in Microbiology in 1998. An associate professor in the Department of Biology, Dr. Pelletier’s research focuses on Microbiology, Parasitology, Molecular Biology, and Genetics.
Qualified applicants for the Paul and Claudette Pelletier Memorial Scholarship must be students enrolled in the Department of Biological Sciences who will enter their junior or senior years during the academic session following their selection. They must demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be first-generation college students.
