Racheal Wood Scholarship for Nursing
U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Racheal Wood ’05 established the Rachael Wood Scholarship for Nursing in the Department of Nursing at SUNY Brockport to recognize an outstanding student in the department who demonstrates the potential for excellence and commitment in a nursing career.
LTC Wood, who graduated cum laude, was a nursing student and member of the Honors College. She earned her master’s degree in nursing education from East Carolina University in 2010 and earned her doctor of nursing degree from the University of South Alabama in 2017. A member of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, she has specialized in critical care. She is currently being funded by the U.S. Army Nurse Corps to obtain her PhD in nursing science from Augusta University, with an anticipated graduation in 2021.
The scholarships she received as a nursing student were instrumental in her achieving her goals as a student, and she has always endeavored to help students as she was helped.
Applicants qualified for the Racheal Wood Scholarship for Nursing are accepted in the Department of Nursing, demonstrate academic excellence, and have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants also must be adult learners who are over 25 years of age or any students who maintain a rigorous work schedule of up to 20 hours a week in addition to their academic commitments in the Department of Nursing.
