Shannon Adams Scholarship in Accounting

Chris Leone, along with other classmates and friends, established the Shannon Adams Scholarship in Accounting at SUNY Brockport in memory of Mr. Adams who was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The scholarship recognizes an outstanding junior-year student in the accounting program of the School of Business and Management.

Mr. Adams graduated from Brockport in 1998 and was working as a head trader with Cantor Fitzgerald on the morning of September 11. Dr. Melissa Waite, associate professor in the School of Business and Management, recalled Mr. Adams as affable and good-natured with many friends. “He was a bright and hard-working student,” said Dr. Waite in The Stylus issue dated October 3, 2001. She described him in the same article as having short blonde hair, a boyish face, and a warm smile.

The Shannon Adams Scholarship in Accounting recognizes a student who is committed to excellence in an accounting career. Qualified applicants must be enrolled in the accounting major at SUNY Brockport, be junior-year students at the time of selection, demonstrate financial need, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in accounting.
