Susan S. Collier Freshman Dance Awards

Susan S. Collier Freshman Dance Awards

Dr. Susan S. Collier established the Freshman Dance Awards in her name at SUNY Brockport to recognize the best new dancers in the college’s Department of Dance.

Brockport offers students the option for a major or a minor in dance at the undergraduate level as well as a graduate degree program in dance. It provides a foundation in dance training as well as classes in technique, composition, choreography, and the history of dance. Brockport’s emphasis on the liberal arts prepares students for such careers as choreographer, critic, or performer.

Students who receive one of the Susan S. Collier Freshman Dance Awards must have successfully completed their freshman year as a dance major, received the nomination of the department’s faculty and/or staff, and have a GPA that places them in good academic standing. In addition, they must demonstrate excellence in the areas of performance and/or choreography, showing promise as one of the best new dancers in the program.
