The Kakaty Group Educational Scholarships

Joseph M. Kakaty ’94, his wife Josey, and their three children established The Kakaty Group Educational Scholarships at SUNY Brockport to support student excellence among Saratoga (NY) County students who have chosen to attend Brockport.

When Mr. Kakaty was a student, he was active with the Brockport Student Government, serving as the organization’s vice-president during the 1991-92 academic year and remained active through his senior year. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Currently, he is CEO of GXM Investment Group, a principal of The Kakaty Group, and an advisor for PrizeOut, Blaze Media, and Estars Studio. In 2017, he was named Man of the Year by the Upstate New York and Vermont Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He is a current board member of Stop Child Predators, and he is a former board member of Hannah’s Hope Fund and the Saratoga Hospital. He also previously served as a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany and St. Clement’s Regional Catholic School boards.

To qualify for The Kakaty Group Educational Scholarship, students must have attended a high school in Saratoga (N.Y.) County before being accepted at Brockport, be a traditionally-aged entering freshman student, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Qualified students also must submit a 500-to-1,000-word essay about the impact this scholarship will have on their educational career. Students may be enrolled in any of Brockport’s academic programs.
