The Maureen Casey Scholarship
Maureen Casey ’83, chief operating officer of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University, established a scholarship to recognize an outstanding transfer student in criminal justice at The College of Brockport.
After earning her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude at Brockport and her juris doctor degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law, Ms. Casey worked with the New York State criminal justice system, the New York City Police Department, and as a managing director at JPMorgan Chase.
She brings more than 25 years of public and private sector experience to her current role at the IVMF. With a motto of serving those who served, the IVMF is the first interdisciplinary academic institute focused on advancing the post-service lives of the national’s military veterans and their families.
Qualified applicants for the Maureen Casey Scholarship are transfer students who have an appreciation or interest in a career for which a degree in criminal justice is required, who have a GPA of at least 3.25 or higher, and who demonstrate strong leadership skills through service to their school or community.
Women students will receive preference as will students who have taken time off from their studies and are returning to Brockport to complete their degree in criminal justice, students who have earned an associate’s degree and will continue their studies in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at the College, or students who have a demonstrated financial need.
