The Raymond C. and Theresa Shaheen Nursing Scholarship
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Shaheen established the Raymond C. and Theresa Shaheen Nursing Scholarship at SUNY Brockport to recognize an outstanding student in the Department of Nursing.
Mr. Shaheen owned and operated paint and painting supplies stores at multiple locations in the Rochester area. He specialized in house painting and commercial projects. He served on Brockport’s College Council from 1974 until the formation of the Brockport Foundation in 1977 when he served as a member of the first Brockport Foundation Board of Directors. He passed away in 1992.
Mrs. Shaheen was a graduate of Rochester Business Institute and worked at Sibley Lindsay & Curr Company. After her marriage, she was an active community volunteer with a life-long interest in education. She was a 52-year member of the Maywood Book Club. Mrs. Shaheen passed away in 2016.
Students who qualify for the Raymond C. and Theresa Shaheen Nursing Scholarship should be junior students who are accepted into the Department of Nursing, have completed a minimum of 40 academic hours at the time of application, maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate a commitment to the profession of nursing.
