Urban League of Rochester Black Scholars Program
Together the Urban League of Rochester and the Brockport Foundation established the Urban League Scholarship at SUNY Brockport to recognize an entering, full-time, African-American freshman student who is involved with the Urban League of Rochester Black Scholars Program.
The Black Scholars Program of the Urban League of Rochester provides recognition, assistance, and incentives to students who achieve and maintain a “B” or better average throughout high school. The program serves Black Scholars from Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne Counties.
As part of its service to Black Scholars, the Urban League offers workshops for college-bound students and their parents on selecting a college, applying for admission, securing financial aid, and succeeding in college.
Qualified applicants for the Urban League Scholarship at Brockport, students must be an accepted incoming freshman student at the college, must exhibit academic excellence through designation as a participant in the Urban League of Rochester Black Scholars Program, and must demonstrate a commitment to professional success as determined by the Urban League Scholarship selection committee.
