Wood Family Scholarship

Wood Family Scholarship

Brian and Racheal Wood established a scholarship at SUNY Brockport to recognize an outstanding entering freshman student who plans to study mathematics or one of the hard sciences—biology, biochemistry, chemistry, geology, meteorology, or physics.

A cum laude graduate and member of the Honors College, Racheal Wood ’05 is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She earned her master’s degree in nursing education from East Carolina University in 2010 and earned her doctor of nursing degree from the University of South Alabama in 2017. She specializes in critical care. Currently, she is funded by the Army Nurse Corps to obtain her PhD in nursing science from Augusta (GA) University. She anticipates graduating in 2021.

Brian Wood ’02 graduated from Brockport’s Honors College with a degree in history. At Brockport, he was a member of ROTC. Now, U.S. Army MAJ® Wood hopes the scholarship he and his wife created will relieve some anxiety about college expenses for the recipient each year.

To qualify for the Wood Family Scholarship, students must be accepted at SUNY Brockport with an intention to major in mathematics or one of the hard sciences. Applicants also must demonstrate a need for financial assistance as demonstrated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
