Student Engagement Scholarships & Awards Application

Apply using this application to be considered for multiple student engagement scholarships and awards. Students who are involved in one or more activities on and/or off the SUNY Brockport campus, who demonstrate leadership through their service and engagement, regardless of academic program, and who are rising sophomores, rising juniors, or rising seniors should apply using this application. By applying using this application, eligible students will be considered for the following leadership scholarships and awards:

  • Sara T. Jackson Award
  • Lathan H. and Alyce M. Lampen Award
  • R. Mark & Robert M. Fenton Leadership Scholarship
  • Brockport Student Government Scholarship
  • George Rich Student Philanthropy Award

Supplemental Questions
  1. How have your academic studies, leadership experience and extra-curricular activities contributed to your personal development and future plans? Not to exceed 500 words.
  2. Describe how your leadership and service to others reflects the promotion and development of values that are essential to individual dignity and a humane society. Not to exceed 500 words.
  3. For the George Rich Student Philanthropy Award, complete the following prompts. The recipient(s) of this award will receive a scholarship applied to their student bill, in addition to the opportunity to make a donation to an organization of their choice.
    • Are you a student or group of students that have added, through contribution of time and/or talent, to the general culture of the College/local community and/or inspired others to be similarly involved?
    • Please identify an on-campus, philanthropic, education, co-curricular, or cultural endeavor that you would like to receive the financial benefits of this award.
    • Why is the above on-campus, philanthropic, education, co-curricular, or cultural endeavor deserving of an additional award? Not to exceed 500 words.
  4. Please ask a PROFESSIONAL reference who can attest to your leadership skills and abilities, commitment to service, and your on/off campus involvement. This reference must be different from the reference provided in the General Application. Please provide the full name and email address for this person and the system will make contact on your behalf. Please make sure to ask for their permission first and to follow up with your reference after inserting their name into the system. The recommendation is due at same time as your application.
