Richard D. Evans Scholarship

This scholarship was established by SUNY Brockport emeritus, Dr. Richard Evans, who was instrumental in establishing the graduate public administration program. This scholarship recognizes a student who demonstrates a commitment to a career in public service.

Eligible students must:

  • Be enrolled at SUNY Brockport at either the undergraduate or graduate level in any academic discipline.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence as judged by the selection committee.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a career in public service, such as government or nonprofit agency employment, as evident through significant public service employment and as judged by the selection committee.
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance as informed by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (F AFSA) minus any other awarded scholarships or grants and as judged by the selection committee.
    All students eligible based on the aforementioned criteria have the opportunity to apply and compete. The ideal scholarship recipient is one who has experienced adversity which includes, but is not limited to, identifying as a member of a historically underrepresented minority group, and, or have overcome obstacles such as socioeconomic or educational disadvantages (e.g., attended an inner-city public school)

This is an Apply-To Opportunity. Applicants will need to submit one or more additional items to be considered for this award after submitting the General Application.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
