Hannelore and William Heyen Scholarship in English Education

This scholarship recognizes a continuing student in the Department of English.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate academic program leading to teacher certification as offered by the Department of English at SUNY Brockport.
  • Possess sophomore, junior, or senior status at the time of application. A senior applicant who will have graduated with their baccalaureate degree at the time of disbursement may still be considered if the student is confirmed to return to SUNY Brockport in the following term to pursue a graduate program.
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrate commitment, passion, and potential success as a future English educator as judged by the selection committee.

This is an Auto-Match Opportunity. Applicants are auto-matched to this award based on their submission of their General Application.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
