James Francis Harris Memorial Award

This scholarship recognizes an outstanding Brockport student who is a role model for fellow students with disabilities. The recipient is enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate or graduate student, registered with the Office of Students Accessibility Services, possess a GPA of at least 2.5, and demonstrates involvement in campus and community activities, and a willingness to act as a role model for students with disabilities who are interested in attending Brockport.

As part of the application, applicants are required to describe to prospective high school students about life on the Brockport campus and address attending college as a student with a disability.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.

  1. Please provide a statement describing what you would tell high school students about campus life on the Brockport campus and address, generally, the subject of attending college as a student with a disability. Statements may be submitted in a form appropriate to the disability (e.g. typed, audio taped, videotaped, etc.). Please submit approximately a 500 word response if providing a typewritten statement. Please contact the Foundation Scholarship Office if you plan to use media other than a typewritten file.
