Manning-Henderson Family Mathematics Education Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in SUNY Brockport’s Mathematics Education program who has demonstrated commitment and potential for excellence in a teaching career. Eligible undergraduate students must be enrolled into the initial teacher certification program. Eligible graduate students must have completed 15 credits in math, at the undergraduate or graduate level, at Brockport and be enrolled in the adolescence math professional certification program. Applicants must submit a writing response (in the All Education and Human Development Scholarships conditional application) describing their reasons for persisting in a career in mathematics education and highlighting how student has continued mathematics education in the face of difficulty.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees OR as a reimbursement towards NYS Teacher Certification Examinations. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash, unless being reimbursed for NYS Teacher Certification Examinations.
