Bessie Walker Browne Award
This scholarship recognizes and encourages a promising current SUNY Brockport elementary education teacher certification candidate whose achievement in pre-certification reading courses indicates excellent potential. Applicant must also have the recommendation of two or more instructors of reading from the Department of Education and Human Development, and must be an undergraduate student or a student with a degree who is seeking elementary certification. This fund was established to honor Mrs. Bessie Walker Brown, by her husband Mark H. Browne, who was a dedicated elementary teacher and alumna from the class of 1927.
To be considered for this opportunity you must apply through the “All Education and Human Development Scholarships" conditional application.
The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
