Brockport Smiles Scholarship

This scholarship honors a continuing undergraduate student who will pursue admission into a graduate program to become a dentist or to enter another health profession. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of an interest in admission to dental school or other pre-health profession as shown through advisement interactions with at least one member of the Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee and by submitting a personal statement of no more than 500 words that addresses the student’s motivation to pursue a health professions career, relevant field experience, and demonstrated participation in co-curricular activities including, but not limited to community service and leadership. Applicants must demonstrate high academic potential with successfully completing at least 15 credits at SUNY Brockport, with an overall and math/science GPA of 3.30 or higher, and show progression towards completion of health profession prerequisites, having a grade of B or higher in BIO201 & BIO202, and CHM205 & 206, or equivalent. Applicants must also provide a reference letter from a SUNY Brockport science faculty member.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.

Please provide the full name, professor's title, and email address of a SUNY Brockport science professor, and the course or courses you have taken with them, who will speak to your academic abilities and potential to be successful in a future pre-health profession. The committee will follow up with your reference rather than require your reference to submit a recommendation.
  3. Have you completed (or will you by the end of the fall semester) BIO 201 & BIO 202 and CHM 205 & CHM 206 or their equivalents with at least a B?
