Interdisciplinary Award in Mathematics

This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate interest in the applicable nature of mathematics as an interdisciplinary tool. Applicants demonstrate such through a typewritten paragraph outlining their interest in the applicable nature of mathematics and support from two mathematics faculty. Students must be in their freshman or sophomore years when applying, have completed at least two mathematics courses, and must have a GPA of at least 3.0 at Brockport, and a GPA of 3.0 or above in all math courses. This fund was established by Dr. Kazumi Nakano. Mathematics, according to Dr. Nakano, has a widespread effect on all knowledge areas of the academic endeavor rather than as a specialized body of information. Mathematics crosses all subject areas either in theory or in practice. The student selected must have an interest in the applicable nature of mathematics but does not necessarily have to be a math major.

This is an Apply-To Opportunity. Applicants will need to submit one or more additional items to be considered for this award.
