Dr. Edward O. and Arline Stephany Award

This scholarship recognizes an outstanding student who will be a junior or senior mathematics major in the following academic year, who demonstrates academic excellence, and exhibits an interest in mathematics learning outside the classroom through participation in national exams, summer institutes, and contests. Dr. Stephany taught for 33 years in the Department of Mathematics from 1947 to 1980. He served as President of the Faculty Council in 1965-66 and was named Professor Emeritus in 1980. Dr. Stephany passed away in September 2006. The name of the award was updated in fall 2019 to include his wife, Arline, on her 100th birthday.

The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period.
