NEWS10NBC Scholarship

This scholarship annually supports two recipients, who are incoming, first-time freshmen or incoming transfer students, that are majoring in Meteorology in the Department of Earth Science. Eligible students must demonstrate academic excellence and the potential for success as judged by the selection committee. All eligible applicants will be considered however, first preference will be provided to graduates of the Rochester City School District, a secondary preference to graduates of Rochester Charter Schools, and a third preference to graduates of high schools in the seven-county greater Rochester area.

Recipients can renew this scholarship if they annually maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and make satisfactory progress toward completing their Meteorology degree. Recipients can renew this scholarship up to a maximum of four academic years or eight consecutive semesters.

Additionally, if a recipient remains eligible, they then can be considered for a one-semester internship, paid for separately by, and at, WHEC-TV, LLC, during their junior or senior year. All qualified Meteorology majors are eligible for an internship at WHEC-TV.

Eligible incoming students are considered for this opportunity based on their undergraduate admission application.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
