Ernest C. Hartwell Memorial Award
This fund was established by Mrs. Evadne Hartwell, Marguerite Hare Browne, friends and former students of Dr. Hartwell as a living memorial to his philosophy of “helping students help themselves”. Dr. Ernest C. Hartwell was President and Principal of the Brockport State Teachers College from 1936-1944. This award provides financial assistance to students of need or to those deserving of commendation for their individual efforts. Eligible applicants include all undergraduate students, in good standing, except those graduating in May of the semester of selection.
This award is selected from internal nominations within the Foundation Scholarship Office and does not accept applications.
The financial assistance is in the form of a tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
