Corazon Fuerte Scholarship

The Association of Latinx American Students (A.L.A.S) is a Brockport Student Government club dedicated to educate its members and the university community about the diverse Latinx cultures, foster awareness of ourselves as students, citizens and Latinxs to promote active participation in our diverse communities through service and direct action, and promote unity among Latinx students and other ethnic groups at The College of Brockport. The ALAS also promotes leadership development and advocates for its members while addressing educational issues and promotes participation of our members in the college and community’s activities.

ELIGIBILITY and CRITERIA
Students must:
1. Be enrolled at the undergraduate or the graduate level and be continuing for at least one more semester after selection at SUNY Brockport.
2. Demonstrate academic excellence by possessing a GPA of 2.0 or higher, and as determined by the selection committee.
3. Demonstrate the ability to persist and grow from the lessons of an obstacle they encountered, or from an experience where they exemplified leadership.
4. Have a professional recommendation submitted on the applicant’s behalf. Preference is for a faculty/staff member from SUNY Brockport.
5. Be an active member of the Association of Latinx American Students (ALAS).

This is an Auto-Match Opportunity. Applicants are auto-matched to this award based on their submission of their General Application.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
