MJ Iuppa Poetry Prize

The MJ Iuppa Poetry Competition ($1,000 prize)
Participants must

• Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at SUNY Brockport.
• Reading a provided biography about M.J. Iuppa and answer three questions related to it.
• Read a provided package of poems by M.J. Iuppa to gain insight into her style, use of metaphor, and landscape.
• Submit three original works of poetry informed by the style of M.J. Iuppa: a Haiku, a Cinquain and a Free Verse.

To help understand the forms of poetry, M.J.’s posted teaching notes as necessary may be consulted if needed.

No applications are accepted for these prizes and the Department of English coordinates the procedures and selection of recipients.
