Equity and Justice Opportunity Scholarship
Janee Slade delivered scholarship funds to SUNY Brockport to support an undergraduate student in African American Studies, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, or Social Justice major with a strong sense of advocacy.
ELIGIBILITY and CRITERIA
Students must:
1. Current students (those entering sophomore, junior, or senior year) must be enrolled full-time in one of these majors: African American Studies, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, or Social Justice (a minimum of 24 credit hours per year).
2. Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average over the course of their academic studies.
3. Demonstrate a strong sense of advocacy and support for the field through their involvement with social justice programs and community service as judged by the selection committee.
4. Demonstrate a need for financial assistance as informed by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) minus any other awarded scholarships or grants and as judged by the selection committee.
The award will be credited to the student’s bill during the semester(s) following receipt. The recipient must use this award for educational expenses at the University and may not receive the award in cash.
