President Albert W. and Marjorie H. Brown Scholarship

This fund was established to honor Dr. Brown president emeritus, who served the College from 1965 to 1981 and Mrs. Brown who was first lady of the College. A recognized leader in American higher education, Dr. Brown has been constant in his commitment to academic excellence at The College at Brockport and has been a leader in the establishment of programs to recognize outstanding students. The scholarship is also in memory of Edith E. Brown, Dr. Brown’s mother.

Eligible students must

  1. Be graduating high school seniors who have accepted admission as entering freshmen by SUNY Brockport and by the Honors Program.
  2. Submit a completed application and two (2) letters of recommendation from non-relatives who are in a position to evaluate both academic and personal characteristics and achievements.
  3. Enroll as full time (at least 15 credit hours) students at SUNY Brockport in the Honors Program.
  4. Scholarships will be awarded based on the candidate’s high school record and SAT/ ACT scores as they show promise for superior college achievement at SUNY Brockport.
  5. In memory of Dr. Brown’s mother, Edith E. Brown and her interest in education, preference will be given to applicants from LeFargeville, NY and Clayton, NY high schools in cases where those applicants are equally qualified as others.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.

Incoming students are considered for scholarships based on their admissions application – they should not apply through the scholarship portal. For best consideration, students are encouraged to submit their application by February 15th.
