Richard L. and Richard P. Canuteson Award

This fund was established by Mrs. Richard L. Canuteson and her sons, as an incentive to SUNY Brockport students pursuing a career in elementary education to strive for excellence and high personal standards in their academic, social, and professional environment. This award is in honor of the late Dr. Richard L. Canuteson, Emeritus Professor of Education who served the College from 1948-1969. The award is established to help case the financial pressure so that a student could dedicate their time and direction towards the aforementioned goal.

Eligible students must

  1. Be a matriculated second semester junior planning to enroll for their senior year at Brockport.
  2. Be registered in the elementary education certification program.
  3. Demonstrate professional comportment and composure.
  4. Have a good-to-excellent GPA.
  5. Have been or plan to be enrolled in a student teaching course.
  6. Show some financial need.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
