Eugene C. Fish Scholarship
This fund was established by Joan C. Young to recognize and assist an outstanding student in the SUNY Brockport Teacher Certification Program in the Department of Physical Education and Sport who has demonstrated commitment to and potential for excellence in the teaching profession. Joan C. Young, Class of 1953, a retired teacher, and a former staff member at the College, established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Eugene C. Fish, Class of 1954, teacher, coach and athlete.
Eligible students must
- Be a current student or a transfer student with at least two semesters of study remaining.
- Be accepted in the teacher certification program in the Department of Physical Education and Sport.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, a record of volunteerism, and a commitment to teaching, as judged by the Scholarship Committee of that department.
- Demonstrate financial need as expressed in the application essay.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant, split evenly between the fall semester and the spring semester. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
