Mary Lou Galasso Literacy Education Scholarship
Mary Lou Galasso received a B.S. in Elementary Education, a M.S. in Reading Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport. She devoted over 32 years to reading education in West Irondequoit, serving first at the elementary classroom level and later as a middle-school reading teacher. She served as director of the district reading program for over two decades.
Eligible applicants must:
1. Be enrolled in the Early Childhood Inclusive Education major at SUNY Brockport.
2. Be in their final semester of their undergraduate program, or be on track to complete their program over the summer, and be accepted into the Literacy Education Program (MSEd) at SUNY Brockport at the time of selection.
3. Possess a minimum GPA of 3.2.

The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or college fees. The award will be credited to the recipient’s bill during the semester(s) of the award period. The student must use this award for educational expenses at the College and may not receive the award in cash.
