Class of '63 Scholarship Honoring Rosa La Sorte Rich, Class Advisor

This fund was established by the Class of ‘63, its friends and supporters, to recognize outstanding students SUNY Brockport who demonstrates commitment and potential for excellence in the career of education. A large majority of SUNY Brockport’s graduating Class of 1963 had long and successful careers as teachers and administrators and have a keen interest in assuring that the College produces a continuing stream of excellent and highly respected educators.

On July 10, 2019, the Class of 1963 surprised their class advisor and current friend/mentor, Rosa LaSorte Rich by renaming this scholarship in her honor.

Eligible students must

  1. Be enrolled in one of SUNY Brockport’s teacher certification programs at the undergraduate level.
  2. Have successfully completed a minimum of two (2) semesters, or are about to complete their second semester, in a teacher certification program at SUNY Brockport.
  3. Demonstrate evidence of above average extra-curricular involvement in college and/or community involvement, with particular involvement relating to any and all education related activities as determined by the selection committee.
  4. Demonstrate above average academic performance, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, as determined by the selection committee.
  5. Demonstrate a commitment to being a future educator as determined by the selection committee.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
