Marion R. Sortore Award
In memory of Marion R. Sortore and the commitment she made to education as an excellent, Primary level demonstration/supervising teacher in SUNY Brockport Campus School, supervisor of Student teachers in off-campus assignments, and Associate Professor of Education who established the first teaching center in Hilton, New York in 1968. She served at the College from 1944-1969.
Eligible students must
- Have completed student teaching (K-6) certification in Brockport-Hilton Teaching Center
- Demonstrate exceptional skill in working with children, particularly those at the primary level
- Exhibit commitment to education as indicated through joint recommendation of the supervising Teacher, Principal and clinical Professor within the Brockport-Hilton teaching center
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
