Marion R. Sortore Award

In memory of Marion R. Sortore and the commitment she made to education as an excellent, Primary level demonstration/supervising teacher in SUNY Brockport Campus School, supervisor of Student teachers in off-campus assignments, and Associate Professor of Education who established the first teaching center in Hilton, New York in 1968. She served at the College from 1944-1969.

Eligible students must

  1. Have completed student teaching (K-6) certification in Brockport-Hilton Teaching Center
  2. Demonstrate exceptional skill in working with children, particularly those at the primary level
  3. Exhibit commitment to education as indicated through joint recommendation of the supervising Teacher, Principal and clinical Professor within the Brockport-Hilton teaching center

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
