Ora Van Slyke Scholarship

Ms. Ora Van Slyke served as the Campus School Grade Supervisor from 1916 to 1953 and from 1961 to 1962. Miss Van Slyke, a gifted educator, demonstrated outstanding skills in teaching children through the arts and was well known for sharing her knowledge and talents in the arts in the College and community. This scholarship was established in her name in 1977.

Eligible students must

  1. Be rising juniors or rising seniors at SUNY Brockport and enrolled in any academic major or program at the undergraduate level.
  2. Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) minus any other awarded scholarships or grants.

Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an interest in and/or possess talent in the creative arts as evidenced by their field(s) of study and participation in campus or greater community creative arts events or productions in honor of Ms. Van Slyke’s contributions to the College.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
