Class of 1953 Scholarship

Th Class of 1953 graduated from the College when it was known as State University of New York, Teachers College at Brockport. Students were involved in one or two teacher preparation programs: General Elementary Education or Physical Education & Health. Most of the class went on to become effective and influential teachers and educators. On their 50th graduation anniversary, the Class of 1953 chose to establish this scholarship to support aspiring teachers with the potential for excellence.

Eligible students must

  1. Be a full-time matriculated undergraduate student in the Department of Education and and Human Development childhood or adolescent teacher certification program or the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) certification program.
  2. Have a minimum of two semesters of study remaining at SUNY Brockport.
  3. Demonstrate the potential for excellence in their career/program as judged by the selection committee.
  4. Possess a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
