Eugene F. Orbaker Scholarship for Teacher Education in Physical Education
Dr. Orbaker is a 1953 graduate of The College at Brockport where he was named an All-American in soccer. He later served on the faculty from 1958 – 1995 in the Department of Physical Education & Sport. Following his retirement in 1995 with status as Associate Professor Emeritus, he continued to serve the College as an adjunct faculty member. Dr. Orbaker established this scholarship in 2002 because of his desire to help students and because of his long association with the College.
Eligible students must
- Be accepted in the Physical Education Teacher Certification program in the Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies and Physical Education at the undergraduate level with at least two semesters of study remaining.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a teaching career and possess good potential to be successful as judged by the KSSPE selection-committee.
- Demonstrate a need for financial assistance as judged by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) minus any other awarded scholarships or grants.
Preference will be given to a married, adult student who is pursuing teacher certification. Secondary preference will be given to a student with children.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
