Blaine M. Delancey Teaching Excellence Award

The Blaine M. DeLancey Award for Teaching Excellence in Secondary School English recognizes an outstanding teacher of secondary English, grades 7-12. Established by Floy Winks DeLancey, Associate Professor, English 1942-1967 and her son, Dr. Mark W. DeLancey, this award honors her husband and his father, Dr. Blaine M. DeLancey, Professor of. English 1934-1967, Chairman of the Department of English.1934-1966 for his outstanding scholarship in the field of teaching English.

Eligible students must

  1. Be a certified high school teacher of Secondary English, grades 7-12
  2. Be currently employed as a Secondary English Teacher
  3. Be matriculated in Master of Science in Education program at SUNY Brockport
  4. Exemplify outstanding command of English speech and writing
  5. Inspire students to speak and write English of noteworthy quality
  6. Engage students in the discovery of personal values to be found in major areas of English literature and composition
  7. Show potential for continuing growth in the field of teaching English
  8. Exemplify a positive, cooperative attitude toward students and colleagues

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
