Blaine M. Delancey Teaching Excellence Award
The Blaine M. DeLancey Award for Teaching Excellence in Secondary School English recognizes an outstanding teacher of secondary English, grades 7-12. Established by Floy Winks DeLancey, Associate Professor, English 1942-1967 and her son, Dr. Mark W. DeLancey, this award honors her husband and his father, Dr. Blaine M. DeLancey, Professor of. English 1934-1967, Chairman of the Department of English.1934-1966 for his outstanding scholarship in the field of teaching English.
Eligible students must
- Be a certified high school teacher of Secondary English, grades 7-12
- Be currently employed as a Secondary English Teacher
- Be matriculated in Master of Science in Education program at SUNY Brockport
- Exemplify outstanding command of English speech and writing
- Inspire students to speak and write English of noteworthy quality
- Engage students in the discovery of personal values to be found in major areas of English literature and composition
- Show potential for continuing growth in the field of teaching English
- Exemplify a positive, cooperative attitude toward students and colleagues
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
